Spring & Summer Stripes

Like I wrote earlier, this spring and summer have quite a few trends that really aren't trends at all - they are just classic looks. Another one of those looks is stripes, especially horizontal stripes.

Now, this is a look that I usually don't recommend to everyone. Let's face it, horizontal stripes can make you look wider and I haven't met a women that wants to look larger than she is. But, if you want to rock the stripes, there are subtle ways of wearing them. A neutral black and white stripe or navy and white stripe go great with all the colored denim this season. And, if you really want to tone down the stripe, wear a solid blazer or cardigan on top for a super chic look. A striped top also looks great with white pants, skinny or boot cut - always be conscious of your body type.

If you really love stripes, they go all out and try a dress of stripes. They are in all shapes and lengths this summer. Really thin stripes tend to work great on shorter dresses and wider stripes work great on maxi dresses.

And, remember the key with stripes is to keep the rest of the look simple or to pair with solid colors. So, go ahead, get striped!

Spring Showers Bring Up Flowers

If you have walked around any stores lately, you probably have noticed floral prints popping up everywhere. Hello Springtime! Floral prints is definitely not a new trend; however, it is very on spot this season. Floral tops, skirts, dress, and even pants are everywhere.

If you want to ease into this trend, try a floral top. Pair it with white pants, shorts or jeans for a casual easy-breezy day look. Since the floral print has so such going on, keep the jewelry and shoes minimal. Or, to dress up a floral top for a night time look, pair with a pencil skirt - the contrast of a breezy top and structured skirt is oh so chic!

Another easy way to get into this trend is to wear a floral dress. They come in all shapes and lengths this season. From girly to super sexy, floral dresses are all the rage. So, embrace your flower power and celebrate the wonders of the environment all around you!

Freshen Your Whites

With Easter just two weeks away, it's time to get ready to wear your whites. One of my biggest rules of fashion is to keep you whites fresh and crisp. Which means, most of us need to replace them once a year because we wear them so much. There are very few things that look worse than someone wearing a dingy looking white top or pant.

So, get really serious with yourself, go into your closet and evaluate your wardrobe. You need to look at ALL of you whites (even your favorites) and see if any have a yellow stain under the arm or any kind of stain anywhere else, if any are out-of-shape or shrunken because it's been washed so much, or if any look old and abused. If anything falls under these three categories, get rid of it. Start new this spring and summer so you look your best.

When freshen and new, white is always on trend and always looks great throughout the hot spring and summer months. White tops are especially great this season with the bold colored trendy jeans out there. Also, white is always chic with black. White jeans are a must for everyone this season. Add a bright colored top and a summer scarf, and you are ready to hit the town.

White dresses should be a staple in every woman's wardrobe for the summer. They are a great way to replace the LBD (Little Black Dress) for the hot months. If wearing all white intimidates you, break it up with a great belt or add a blue jean jacket. White skirts are also great and can be worn with just about anything. So, get ready to jump into the summer by freshening your whites!
